Privacy statement
Interlude and Blowtorch run at your station, not with us. Your music, playlists, logs and users stay on your own machines. This is exactly what we do receive from you, why, and how long we keep it.
Draft: this text has not had a legal review yet.
1. Who we are
Cadence Broadcast (to be completed, Chamber of Commerce to be completed, to be completed, to be completed to be completed, the Netherlands) is the controller for the processing in this statement, except where we say below that we are a processor. Send privacy questions to to be completed.
2. This website
cadencebroadcast.com sets no cookies, uses no analytics, shows no ads and loads nothing from anyone else. There are no forms.
Like every web server, ours keeps an access log of each request: your IP address, the time, the page asked for, the status code, the referring page and your browser's user agent. We use it only to keep the site secure and working, on the basis of our legitimate interest (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)). The logs are deleted automatically after 14 days to be confirmed.
3. When you email us
When you email us, we use your name, address and what you write to answer you and, if you become a customer, for the customer relationship. We keep correspondence for up to two years after the last contact. Invoices and what goes with them are kept for seven years, as Dutch tax law requires.
4. What the software sends us
The software sends us nothing about your broadcast, your music or your listeners. We receive data only in these cases:
Licenses
A license is a signed file. The software checks it on your own machine. Whether the station stays on air never depends on it: an expired license never takes the station off air.
You get a license in one of two ways:
- Online activation. When you enter your license key in Settings → License, the Interlude Server sends this to license.cadencebroadcast.com: your license key, the installation ID (a random number the installation makes itself), the product name and the software's version number. After that it asks for a renewed license once a day, sending only the license key and the installation ID. No host name or user name is sent, and nothing about your broadcast.
- Offline. You give us the installation ID the software shows and import the file you get from us. The software then sends us nothing.
For each installation we keep, with your license: the installation ID, the product and version number, when the installation first and last contacted us, and until when the most recently issued license is valid. We also keep a log of activations, renewals and refused requests. We use this to issue and renew your license and to see how many installations use it. The legal basis is the performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). We delete this data two years after the installation's last contact.
To limit abuse, the server counts how many license requests come from one IP address per hour. For that we do not keep the IP address itself, only a salted hash of it from which the address cannot be recovered, and we delete that after about a day. The request also appears in the ordinary access log from section 2.
If renewing fails, for example because the machine has no internet, the license already in place stays valid until it runs out. Importing a license file offline always remains possible.
Checking for updates
The software fetches a fixed file from cadencebroadcast.com to see whether there is a new version. Nothing is sent along; only the ordinary access log from section 2 records the request.
Debug logs and support
You make a debug log yourself, with Help → Save debug log…, and we only get it if you send it to us. Such a log can contain user names, track titles, and host names and IP addresses from your own network. The same goes for letting us look in through the built-in MCP server or any other way: it is off by default and only on when you switch it on.
For this data we are a processor on behalf of your organization: we use it only to solve your question. We delete a debug log at the latest 3 months after your question is closed. The data processing agreement sets out the terms.
5. Who we share data with
We do not sell data or share it for advertising. Our website runs with our hosting provider, in a Google Cloud data centre in the Netherlands (region europe-west4). Email you send us arrives at our email provider, to be completed. Google is a US company; where data could leave the EEA through it, the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework apply. Otherwise we share data only when the law requires it.
6. Security
All traffic with cadencebroadcast.com uses HTTPS. Licenses are signed with a key we keep secret and that is not in the software. Access to the management environment is protected and limited to those who need it.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access your data, have it corrected or erased, restrict its processing, object, and take it with you. Send your request to to be completed; we answer within a month. If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
If it concerns data in a debug log from your employer, your employer is the controller and we help them with your request.
8. Changes
If the software or this site starts doing something else with data, we update this statement beforehand and put the new date at the top.
